Mile Hi Children’s Enrichment Center
Enrollment Information
For pre-school students 3+ years and older, Monday – Friday Part Day Schedules are always our first recommendation! Our ability to grow and deepen meaningful relationships and co-create curriculum with your child and family is the richest on a M-F Part day schedule, it truly is. However, for families who need alternative or changing schedules (ie. Firefighters, Servers, Nurses etc.) We find it pivotal to support you in creating the schedule you need. For families who have an intuition about how much their child should start or with or what they need, we choose to honor this intuition in every way we can through preferred and flexible schedules.

Behavior Guidance
THE WHOLE BRAIN CHILD®
The Whole Brain Child® philosophy supports our commitment to understanding the early childhood journey and enlisting the most nurturing and effective strategies possible. The approach focuses on how the mind of a child is wired and how it grows.
We see discipline as something that takes place within the individual, through the guidance of healthy, trusted relationships. The foundation of our disciplinary approach is the Whole Brain Child by Dr. Daniel J. Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson, Ph.D.
The Whole Brain Child approach is rooted in relationship, strengthened by communication, and built with empathy. We treat children with dignity and respect even when their behavior is difficult. We choose our words and actions with children very carefully and avoid misuses of power or authority. As we guide and support behavior we do so by using wording and choices that the children can model and use with other people in their own lives and it be successful, respectful, and confident; whether the caregiver says it- or the child.
Key Strategies of the Whole Brain Child® Approach
Name it to tame it: Corral raging right-brain behavior through left-brain storytelling, appealing to the left-brain’s affinity for words and reasoning to calm emotional storms and bodily tension.
Engage don’t Enrage: Keep your child thinking and listening, instead of purely reacting.
Move it or Lose it: Use physical activities to shift your child’s emotional state.
Let the Clouds of Emotion Roll By: Guide your children when they are stuck on a negative emotion, and help them understand that feelings come and go.
SIFT: Help children pay attention to the Sensations, Images, Feelings, and Thoughts within them so that they can make better decisions and be more flexible.
Connect Through Conflict: Use discord to encourage empathy and greater social success.
